AMANDA REED, 4 JUN 10 The United Nation's project The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) is "a major international initiative to draw attention to the global economic benefits of biodiversity, to highlight the growing costs of biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation, and to draw together expertise from the fields of science, economics and policy to enable practical actions moving forward."
After three years of research TEEB recently released the report "TEEB for Policy Makers – Responding to the Value of Nature" , which prompted three excellent response stories in The Guardian..

Q&A with Chef Dan Barber: Can organic farming feed the world?
At TED2010, Chef Dan Barber drew a standing ovation with his unlikely love story about fish: sustainably farmed, outrageously delicious fish, which offers a model for the future of food production. A key figure in the farm-to-table movement, Dan occupies an unusual space as chef-scholar: His op/eds appear regularly in The New York Times and elsewhere; and he prepares genius menus nightly at his two Blue Hill Restaurants -- one in New York City and one at the Stone Barns farm in Pocantico Hills, NY. We caught up with Dan in New York to better understand the meaty issues he raised in his talk.

President’s Cancer Panel: Organic foods reduce environmental risks
Organic Trade Association (OTA) hails panel for empowering consumers with ways to reduce their cancer risk
GREENFIELD, Mass. (May 6, 2010)—. The President’s Cancer Panel Report released today exhorts consumers to choose food grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers , antibiotics, and growth hormones to help decrease their exposure to environmental chemicals that can increase their risk of contracting cancer. Organic products avoid the use of these chemicals.
